You know when you feel like everything is dark and gloomy, everything goes against you, no one understands you and you feel at your lowest? Everyone has felt it that way, at least once in their lifetime.
Some may have a difficult time as a revert, some may have a difficult time with their family, friends, as a new mom, lost a job, lost a child, lost their home, sickness. Everybody is different, and what may be a hardship for me may not be a hardship for you and the other way around. Whatever it may be, it’s a big test.
It’s easy to feel lost, to think negatively and complain at times like this, but without knowing, when we do that we’re actually making it worse. Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala says in the Qur’an 2: 155:
“And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient,”
Patience, yes its easier said than done, but if we manage to have patience, greater things will come, In Shaa Allah. Think about how many people there’s in this world, and how many people that have it worse than you, that have lost everything they have, everything. It’s always, somehow, light at the end of the tunnel.
So how do we actually get out of it with patience?
1. Salah (prayer)
Nothing more important than this step. Honestly, without this, we’re lost. This will keep us disciplined 5 times a day.
No book in this world can soothe us more than the Quran. Just listening and pondering upon the Quran is relaxing and calming. Nothing will comfort us more than Allah’s words, SubhanAllah. You know when you read, and it is as if Allah is talking directly to you, and then you either smile or shed a tear, that feeling is so beautiful.
Whether it’s money for the needy, donating clothes, a smile, or good words. This affects our mind and heart more than we think.
When we complain about small calamities, we will get even more or bigger calamities. When we’re grateful to Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala, He will give us more to be thankful for. Say Alhamdulillah for everything, for both the good and the bad. Alhamdulillah ‘ala kolli hal.
Ask Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala to make it easy for us, to make us grateful for everything, to get us out of this dark we’re in with patience. Simply, talk to Him. Go to a room, sit down, and just pour your heart out.
This is a reminder to me more than anyone else. May Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala give us strength, patience and straighten our intentions.
Have a blessed Friday.
